The Postcards from a Pandemic have fallen behind by almost a year. Continuing the chronology of the pandemic became much more difficult after governments worldwide removed mandates and the reporting almost disappeared. Reported COVID numbers have ceased to be meaningful. When compared against sewage testing and other indicators, actual infections are orders of magnitude greater than reported. For example, at the end of 2023, on December 31st, Canada reported 27.4K COVID cases. But according to the scientists at Moriarty Lab, 1 in 20 Canadians is infected, which adds up to about 1.9M people. How can the numbers be so far off? If infections are not reported, they're not counted.
